Work Days Oct. 23 to 29

I am very thankful for the rain this week and so are all of the plants!  We also had an excellent turnout for today's work day.

Work days this week are:

Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 1:30 to 3:30 we'll work on some basic maintenance including winterizing the irrigation system, "zipping up" the remaining unattached fence, and laying down cardboard and wood chips on the paths.  If the weather is right, we'll also light the burn pile.

Thursday, Oct. 27 from 8:30 to 10:30 we'll plant pansies and a few Ivory Queen allium bulbs, and weed the flower beds.

Friday, Oct. 28 from 1:00 to 3:00 we'll finish weeding the asparagus, collect some nettle and weed around the plants and work in the sorrel bed.

From now until Christmas break, I'll be offering a work day every Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 so please put it in your calendar if you're into showing up regularly and can make those hours.

Please come to any and all work days that you can - even if you only stay for 15 minutes it makes a huge difference to the garden and really perks me up too!  No need to call ahead to say you are coming, just come on by.  I only cancel if the weather is too extreme to work in.

Picture of the Week

Here is our youngest market manager (age 3 when the photo was taken) at the very first market table of the year.  She did good that day.  We sold out of everything but the leeks.  Gwen is also one of my very best biodynamic prep stirring and sprinkling assistants.  There is nothing like the energy of a child to get those preps flung far and wide!
